Peaceful Sleep [Open!...Morpheus Maybe?]
Part of Makaria felt very very different. But mostly she felt exactly the same as she did before. Just happier. Not that she was unhappy before Morpheus came along, just not complete. Her father might not have approved, she didn't know, and she found herself not caring about it either. She was sure her mother would approve, well, after hearing about it. Was she going to tell them she was in love? Makaria didn't know. The night was a deathly cold, and the moon hung down and cast moonlight on the street below. Makaria had busied herself with work for the past few weeks. She returned when she could to the apartment but she didn't want to crowd Morpheus either.
She didn't want to smother him. Was that possible? Would he feel that way? Makaria really had no idea but enough movies about things like that made her worry. Made her over think little things. She needed to ask him, maybe one day. Maybe never. She was still shy, even if she'd.. Thinking about it made her turn pink. She hung in the shadows of the corner, watching the side walk for her next soul. The clock was ticking, she could hear it in her head. Enter subject one, the time over his head wasn't nearly down yet, wasn't him. Bystander.
Two minutes on the clock.
Makaria lowered her eyes to the sidewalk. The mysterious workings of death indeed. She wondered if Thanatos ever just pushed someone off a cliff. Or in front of a car. Makaria got those sweet deaths. The peaceful ones. How did you call anything like death peaceful? Or Blessed? Loud honking off to the side now, Makaria turned her head and cast her eyes at the street. 1 minute. A car was swerving out of their lane and into the one close to Makaria..
And right for the wrought-iron fence.
Holy.
The old man behind the wheel. Phillip Smith had fallen asleep at the wheel. Poor thing. The car smashed through the Fence, and Makaria only had to walk over and reach through the broken glass to clasp the man on the shoulder. Soul left body and still..
He was still freaking asleep. "Phillip." Nothing.
"Phillip!"
Still nothing!
Makaria jabbed the old man in the ribs. "Mr Smith!" There we go.
"You really shouldn't fall asleep behind the wheel." Not that Makaria minded sleeping. No, it was a favorite activity now. She wondered if Morpheus had felt that pull. She stared at the man long and hard. "Do you know who I am?" "You look just like my niece!" "Uh.. Well maybe I do. But my name is Makaria and you're-" "MY CAR! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR!" It was going to be one of those nights.
