Apate, Goddess of Deceit, Guile, Fraud & Deception (apate) wrote in deities_dot_com,
The gesture of generosity was startling to Apate, unexpected as it was. She was not the sort to go out of her way to do something for others unless there were some sort of gain in it for her. So her immediate inclination was to view the act with some suspicion. But as she turned her eyes on the giver, she realized that it could simply be a matter of professional courtesy, because the woman beside her was actually a goddess.
Very blonde, very blue eyes, but not in the same sort of bland yet shiny way that Olympians carried that combination. Not that she had any doubt this deity was from another pantheon; Apate knew all those she needed to know in her own, who to avoid, who to curry for favor, who could make or break her. It was necessary. This woman had a bit of a chill in her eyes, in the way she looked at everything around her, including Apate. Deceit would bet money that she was Norse, and her thoughts immediately went to the other Nord she’d met recently. However, that was not the sort of thing one simply blurted out in a crowd of mortals.
No matter how funny the reactions could be.
Instead, she quietly murmured her thanks, and pondered whether it was worth it to pursue conversation. The question of speaking or not was resolved as movement in her peripheral vision caught her attention, and Apate focused on the creature stomping her way down the lit runway.
Wearing what she could only describe as a garbage bag. A transparent garbage bag. With a belt.
One corner of her mouth twitched upwards. “Oh, yes, that’s exactly what I need in my closet. Perfect for family dinners.”
