Lottie watched his face as he woke. Watched the smile. That had to be a good sign right? She started to relax slightly, relieved that at least he didn’t seem to be upset by what they’d done. But then he stopped, just sort of froze up, and her heart froze up too. Oh god. She was going to lose him, wasn’t she?
Before she could get into a full blown panic, he smiled again, broader. It was such a beautiful thing to see Dei smile, it changed his face so much. Like a beam of sunlight breaking through clouds, it just sort of caught your eye and made you happier. It certainly made Lottie happier, even under usual circumstances. Today? It nearly made her weak with relief. He wasn’t upset.
Wait.
Was he awake? She thought he was waking up, and that’s why he was smiling, because he was remembering what she was remembering, but what if she was wrong? What if he was thinking about something else? What if he opened his eyes and saw it was her? She wasn’t sure she could take a look of disappointment from him. Not when she was naked. Crap, how did she get untangled here, without waking him up before he saw her?
Then it was too late because his eyes were open. Except he didn’t look at her. Lottie frowned deeply. Why wasn’t he looking at her? They had fucked like rabid weasels, she was still naked and so was he and they were all twisted together in a bed, and he wasn’t looking at her? What the hell?
“Um, no. It’s Nem’s place on Olympus,” she explained, her voice a little more hoarse than it usually was in the morning. Pink stained her cheeks as she realized it was probably from all of the screaming. And the dirty talk. Ohhhh. Had he minded that? He didn’t seem to, but then they were a little drunk last night.
“We, uh, decided we needed a bed and I aimed for my room here, but I guess we missed because this is, um, Nem’s bedroom.” A rather panicked giggle escaped her. “We did it in Nem’s bed. She’s gonna kill me. But that’s sort of the cap to the whole night of not real clear decisions, isn’t it?”
Oh. That didn’t come out sounding like she’d meant at all. Worried she might have offended him or given the impression that she hadn’t enjoyed what they did, she hurried to explain. “I just meant that because we were a little on the tipsy side, you know. Not that I regretted, like, anything we did. Because I didn’t. I really, really, really enjoyed it. Especially the parts in the garage. Not that the couch wasn’t fun or the bed wasn’t hot, but the cars were like a fantasy come true. Which isn’t to say that I’m expecting a relationship or anything, because I’m really not, it was just some really good sex, and I’m really okay with that, I just don’t want this to mess us up because I no matter how amazing the sex was, it’s not worth losing you, like ever, and I don’t want there to be weirdness between us now because we took things in a different direction last night, you know? I just… I just… I just want us to be okay.
“Tell me we’re okay, Dei.” Raspy as her voice was, it was still pleading. So were her eyes as she watched his face for some sign of how things stood between them. Everything in her tightened up in dread of what his answer might be. “Please?”
