Names most women were probably used to hearing from their husbands. It still sounded strange in her ears...she was far more used to terms like "woman" and "wife" than anything that showed any sense of endearment.
"I have taken a hiatus from modeling. It is true that some day I may find I am missing it, but for now.." She had already given her agent notice before she left Stockholm, telling him she would not even reconsider returning until the fall, and even then there were no guarantees.
She leaned back against him, feeling security in having his arms around her. Where else could she possibly want to be?
"Thor, haven't you figured out yet why I was drawn to modeling? It was the only place I had where I felt like I was still beautiful to someone, that I was worth something on my own merit, as shallow as that may be. What else did I have?" A single tear slid down her cheek at the memory of all those lonely years, but she brushed it away quickly, feigning tucking her hair behind one ear.
"That is no longer something I find necessary. The runway and the eyes of strangers can never compare to time with you."
What would she have him do? Of all the questions posed to her since that night at the fashion show, that was the easiest by far to answer.
"What would I have you do? Love me. Love me, but be true to you. It is still your path to follow, whether we are on the same road or not." She knew that was a given, but he was looking for more, and she knew it.
"This is the first time in our lives we will be living together as husband and wife, at least in the traditional sense." She didn't even know what that meant. Sure, she had seen her share of couples while in Midgard, but not from the perspective of their private lives in their own homes. How did real couples act? How did mortals remain married for fifty years and more, still claiming for love each other? She couldn't even begin to imagine what they did to keep themselves entertained. And they weren't going to be together until the Horn of Heimdall blew.
"I think we need to spend time exploring the things each other enjoys doing, finding which ones we both find pleasure in? What are your thoughts?"
Maybe she was worrying too much. It really shouldn't be so puzzling, should it? Perhaps they would simply figure it out with time.
