Zelos knew Akheron would be waiting for them. Their uncle was not one to run and hide from the repercussions of his actions. Zee got a feeling, from the moment of Akheron’s confession that he was willing to face them. It did strike Rivalry as a bit odd that Akheron had offered no explanation for his actions against Styx. Not that any reason would have granted him any leniency, but Zee did have the smallest amount of curiosity about the attack.
Nike had been right when she spoke at the family meeting; "There is more than one way to hurt someone.” Kratos would be the one to give the most of the physical punishment, most like beating Akheron into an unrecognizable mess. Zee understood. Kray needed to do this. Zee could not remember that last time he had seen his little brother so angry. It was not a sight he enjoyed nor one he ever wanted to see again. Bia had disappeared and Nike also seemed very upset at their uncle. Victory looked like she was under better control than Zee or their siblings, but he bet she would be with them through this.
Zelos wanted Akheron to really hurt, to feel actual pain. The physical abuse that was going to happen was for them; to release some of the pain they were feeling. Their uncle would probably get a jolt of power from it all, if Zee wanted to be honest about it. But after Kray was finished, Rivalry had his own punishment to deliver. One that may or may not effect their uncle one way or another. But one that Zelos had to give.
As Styx’s eldest son, Zelos took the lead, walking ahead of his siblings as they made their way through the Underworld. He was the first to see Akheron sitting beneath the tree by his river. He was waiting for them.
“We had each made a vow, more to ourselves than each other, but a solemn vow nonetheless, all those years ago,” Zee commented casually. “No one would very raise a hand to our mother again. Not for any reason. And yet, we all got to see her, broken and bruised. Out of everyone, Uncle, you must be aware of the pain that sight caused us.”
They were useless words, doing nothing but stating the obvious and things that were well known. But Zee wanted to be sure that everyone knew, his siblings, Akheron and whoever else that may be observing. He wanted it known that this was not punishment for crimes against Zeus and Olympus or for crimes against Hades and the Underworld. This was only about crimes against the family of Hate. Their family was paramount.
Zelos had nothing else to say yet. He did not wait to hear what, if anything Akheron would say in response. He simply looked at Nike for support and stepped aside so Kratos could reach their uncle.
