Bast shook her head in amazement. “Hello, dear?” That was all her mother had to say? In the midst of all of this, she said “hello, dear?” What the hell was that? That was exactly the response she wanted to give in return, but she knew her mother wouldn’t appreciate that and then she wouldn’t get any answers.
She bit the inside of her cheek and tried to remind herself that at least she knew her mother was safe. Though, that was part of the problem. Now that the worry was removed, all that was left was the frustration. Well, that and the confusion.
“What the hell is going on?” Alright, that wasn’t as calm as she would have liked, but Bast really wasn’t all that good at controlling her temper or her emotions. She practiced it far too rarely.
“I come looking for you and find--” she waved a hand to encompass the organized chaos around them, “this! This, but no you!”
Bast took a short, hard breath that was supposed to have been a long, deep one. Her impatience was evident in every movement now, but still she tried to be a little calmer. “Did something happen with Horus? Did Set do something else stupid? Who are all these people? And what is going on?”
She shot a heated look at Fatima. She could have answered those questions probably if she hadn’t been so busy shooing.
