Re: Containing the Kitty
Anubis watched Bast transform and run out of the bar. He wanted to immediately go after her, but that would be a mistake. She needed time to calm down and realize that the danger to all of them was over. Now all he had to do was convince this Norse dude to back off.
“Shit,” Hermod said softly. “Well, I royally fucked that one up. She hates being crowded. Why did I crowd her like that?” He wasn’t sure he would be able to get her back after this. He did absolutely everything wrong. And what was up with that pushing of her brother? Hermod felt like such an idiot.
He looked over to Anubis. “Go after her. I know you can probably stay far enough away, but she’ll know you’re there when she needs you.”
Anubis nodded. He had done that very thing for Bast many times in their lives. He would stay upwind of her in his jackal form. Eventually, sometimes many days later, she would come to him. He hesitated for a moment. “What about you?”
The Norse messenger shook his head. “She won’t want to see me. Not yet. Just go make sure she’s okay.” Anubis nodded, shifted into a jackal, and darted out the door after his sister. Hermod watched him go, then found the least bloody chair and sat down. He had to fight a few of the insane mortals, but other than that, he was done.
