Re: Talking to Taweret
Thor shrugged. Of course Bast started it, that wasn’t even in question. What was, at least in his mind, was what had happened to set Ninkasi off like that. She didn’t lose her temper for nothing, because even she knew it was bad when she lost the reins.
And to Taweret’s point, Ninkasi wasn’t the only one deflating fast. A glance over showed that Hermod was already hugging Bast, though she seemed a bit shell-shocked by that fact. Dammit. The kid had rushed right over and grabbed her, hadn’t he? Thor was seriously going to have a talk with him. Led with his heart, every time. Which wasn’t bad, unless you stopped using your head too.
There was a low rumble of a noise from his chest as he hummed noncommittally at Taweret’s threat before he said gently, “Can’t go from a hundred miles an hour to none without setting off the airbags, y’know? Give ‘em a minute to realize the fight’s over. If they don’t settle down after that, then you can start whuppin’ some ass, ‘kay? Hermod is over there hugging all over ‘er, so she’ll be fine. Kasi is… chatting. Which is a real good start for ‘er. She’s gonna take a bit. Last time this happened… it’s just gonna take a bit.”
He ran a hand over the back of his head, down to his neck where he massaged the muscle for a moment. Thinking about the last time, the only other time, he’d seen Ninkasi like this made his muscles tense up. Truthfully, this had ended far, far better than he could have hoped for. Because of the Egyptian at his side.
Leaning toward her, he said, “Thank you. Don’t know why some of ‘em were just standing around—“ and they both knew to whom he referred—“but I don’t know if things would’ve been okay without you stepping in. The Greeks kinda had their hands tied, I s’pose, given who’s involved. And my little brother was doing his best to commit suicide via girl fight, so I had to sit on ‘im. Even so, I couldn’t’ve stopped it. So, can’t thank you enough. You’re gonna be getting some flowers soon. Big bunch. Huge. With irises and everything.”
Because truthfully, she’d saved Thor a great deal of heartache. No matter how that fight might have ended, he’d have been hurt. Either directly, because of Ninkasi. Or indirectly because his brother would have been hurt if something had happened to Bast. Which… when did they start hooking up? He’d missed that.
