Seriously, all she’d been fucking asking for was a little godsdamned consideration from somebody that was supposed to be her friend, somebody that should have understood where she was coming from, at least a little bit, but did she get that? No. No, what she got was fucking attitude from a fucking goddess that was just as much of a fucking mess as she was most of the fucking time, so fuck her!
Bast’s inner monologue picked up considerable speed and volume, not to mention cursing, as she stared at Ninkasi, listening to the shit dropping out of her mouth like the turds they were. What. Fucking. Ever. She opened her mouth to begin a scathing retort, which upon delivery she would then make her grand exit, leaving Ninkasi to rot in her own sad little bittertown all by herself. But she never got to make her comments. Because the woman she’d thought of for thousands of years said something then that cut so deep she actually thought she might be physically bleeding.
That was just plain uncalled for. Totally. It wasn’t as though Bast threw Kasi’s daddy issues in her face. More so, the Sumerian was one of the very, very few that knew exactly how badly the abandonment had hurt Bast. It wasn’t something she admitted to unless she had no choice. Outside of her immediate family, there was actually only one person that knew how Bast felt about the whole father mess. And she’d just thrown it in her face like a bucket of knives.
The bitch had to die.
She didn’t even think, she simply moved, crouching and springing in a movement so fluid it looked effortless. Then she slammed into what felt like a brick wall. A warm brick wall that hadn’t been there a moment before. A brick wall that was holding her in place so she couldn’t get to Ninkasi. Bast’s temper, upon being restrained, ratcheted from the 11 on the 1 to 10 scale that it had been at with Kasi’s comments all the way up to 73,852,946. So she sort of lost her shit.
Which was why it took a moment to figure out why, if she was plastered to Kratos’ back, she was hearing Hermod’s voice. She paused in her struggles long enough to send him a look fraught with equal measures of anger, hurt and panic. “He won’t fucking let me go!”
