It was exciting and laced with just enough danger that the excitement was enhanced. Dressed as she was, there was no reason for anyone to suspect that it was Hera. Nor would anyone ever assume he would be going out of his way to be accompanying her if they did originally suspect, because that was so uncharacteristic of him. If Hera was discovered to be who she was, well, as long as there was nothing remotely untoward about his mannerisms then there was no reason that his publicly attending his Queen should be seen as untoward and a cause for gossip.
It wasn't as if the role limited her, it just required a different behavior set in public eye, and if he was questioned on it all he need say that he was following up on a matter he had requested assistance from Hera on, something beyond his mother's purview.
Which wasn't exactly lying. It was twisting the truth a bit more in his favor. Something he picked up from spending a great deal of time with his father but rarely employed unless absolutely necessary. Saving his neck was absolutely necessary. Hedylogos had also been putting a great deal of thought in how to keep his head firmly planted on his shoulders. No one would ask. No one would care. Everyone was absorbed in themselves.
He would lead, for now, in the most appropriate manner for the venue and situation, for as long as he was allowed.
