Kratos blinked, wondering if his mother was hinting that Zelos might be lonely, or asking if he was. Which wasn't really something he wanted to get into in the middle of a party. Because he didn't think he'd know how to explain to his mom that he had a girl, who was a friend, but who was also now more than a friend, except he didn't think he could call her his girlfriend, exactly, yet, or maybe not ever, or something. It was complicated.
And got more so when he saw the girl in question standing at the bar, too close to somebody that could eviscerate her in the blink of an eye. Kray knew that Ninkasi could take care of herself, he'd seen it, but there was still an overwhelming protective urge to get her away from Enyo. So he turned to Zelos and said, "Mom wants a Manhattan. Get me a beer. Be right back."
And then he went to retrieve his girl who was a friend without thinking about how he was going to explain the sudden departure to his family. He just knew he had to get Ninkasi away from Violence.
