His smile did not fade. Not even a bit when he replied, "good." Which was the honest truth. Possibly not the direction the boy would have expected him to reply, but, just because Zeus enjoyed a degree frustration in his relationships to keep them interesting, Kratos did not need them. Kratos was not the same sort of man that he was. He didn't need to be. Honestly, Zeus would rather he not be.
Interestingly enough, whether he realized it or not, the who -Zeus suspected, that had caused the temporary difficulty in the boy's personal life had mostly been disclosed. This woman and Kratos had known each other quite a while, long enough that apparently there had been some platonic friendship there -which was a concept Zeus was confused by, which on its own didn't say much. At least not until the part about pantheon difficulties. That really narrowed the field down since there were only a small handful of pantheons they had regular problems with and he did not think Kratos was shacking up with a Norse woman. Not when there was that rather... animated... Sumerian that had been around longer and suited that situation far better.
"That is not something that would work for you long term." Zeus raised his glass a bit, and before drinking he said, "I wouldn't want you to have to suffer through that."
A drink later and he lowered the glass. "Everyone has something different that fits properly... like the cut of a properly tailored suit. It cannot be easily ascribed to someone else."
