It hadn't spread to his siblings? Then it was not related to his family, which was good. Erebos and Nyx and their brood were dark and uncouth creatures, and it was futile to attempt to predict how that might manifest if things became unsettled. But it was safe to say that it would not be pleasant.
Still, it would be good to be prepared. Not, however, as prepared as her husband seemed to think they should be. While Hera appreciated his skills and tactical mind, in this instance, she felt that he might be just a bit paranoid. Of course, she could never state that outright. It would wound his not inconsiderable pride.
"Kratos," she said, "is the one most dedicated to his duties, and most serious about fulfilling them with honor. Were it Zelos, with his passionate nature, or Bia and her impetuousness, or even Nike with her need to win, then I think we would need to be prepared for an emotional break. With Kratos, I would be heartily surprised if he were to take out any negativity against us. Against you, in particular. He's very devoted to you, darling. You've been a surrogate father to him since he arrived."
Hera paused to take a small bite of what turned out to be ceviche. Very good ceviche. Afer swallowing, she continued, "Perhaps it would be best if you spoke with him, given how he looks up to you. It would give him the opportunity to unburden himself, and you the chance to assess the situation without having to take drastic measures. That would certainly ease some of the tension before Styx got wind of it."
Then she thought of something that brought a smile to her face. She had a bit of leverage that she should be able to apply in this situation. "And I will speak to his brother to see if I can gain some perspective from that angle."
