If she yanked the bag away, it would pique his curiosity and make him question. So she simply smiled as he looked in the bag, hoping he wouldn't ask why she was buying pink lace instead of black leather. If he did ask, she had an explanation: the things she'd purchased could be excused as pretty underthings for her own pleasure, as they were not too terribly licentious. Hera thought Hedylogos would appreciate classically sultry rather than openly slutty, and blush colored satin and lace over her usual collection that her husband preferred.
She was looking forward to finding out, actually, but first she needed to have dinner with her husband. Who was being... odd. The whole dinner invitation wasn't terribly unusual, but his insistence, and the feeling of it, it just seemed slightly predatory. It reminded her, just a bit, of their courtship. What was going on?
"I'll meet you there," she agreed. And then she swiftly made her exit to her rooms to put away her purchases. There would be no hiding them away, since he'd had a glimpse of them. If he went looking for them later, having them come up missing would look suspicious. So she put them in her drawer, then took a few moments to make certain she looked presentable.
Since she had the time, Hera changed out of the linen suit and silk blouse she'd worn to go shopping. Though she knew that she didn't have to dress for dinner, something about the situation made her feel as though she should make the effort. So she drew out a dress that she'd been saving. It wasn't quite her usual style, but the lines were still elegant so she pulled it on. Looking in the mirror, Hera appreciated the subtle peacock feather print that covered the bustline and drifted down and to the left over her hip. One shoulder was bare, the other covered with a cap sleeve dotted with Austrian crystals. The hemline stopped just below her knees, and she found some navy shoes that were a near match for the color of the dress. Her hair she left down, keeping a bit of a casual feel. It was a good look for dinner on a veranda.
Prepared, Hera walked confidently down the hall to meet her husband.
