For reasons that she didn't completely understand, at Thoth's grinning question, Lottie blushed. She wasn't ashamed of her boyfriend. Actually she was rather proud of him. Perhaps it was because of her own past proclivities, which she'd never hidden or regretted, and the fact that “boyfriend” had never been an option before. At least, she hadn't thought so. But then, nobody before had caught her interest like Vidar did.
“Yes,” she admitted, trying to keep her expression from being sheepish. “I have a boyfriend now. His name is Vidar. The Silent. And yes, that's really his name. He's Norse, and very nice, but not much of a talker, hence his name, and before you ask, no I don't know how he ended up with me really, I mean there was the dinner that Bragi, his brother, and Idun, my friend-- they're married to each other, by the way, Bragi and Idun-- but they set up a dinner where they invited us, which was after I ran into Bragi and Vidar at a coffee shop, and I guess I was talking a lot, and then I turned around and there were these blue, blue, blue eyes attached to a gorgeous face that sat on top of an amazing body, and I had this visceral reaction and I think I said hubba hubba, and Bragi laughed and we started talking and I found out Vidar has a Spyder, well, actually, the Spyder, so we started talking cars, you know how much I love cars, and he didn't say as much as I did, but he was talking, I swear he was, then Bragi and Idun set up the dinner, and after that, everything sort of clicked into place, I guess, but really, he's wonderful, and sweet and strong and romantic and he gave me a goat, and even though he doesn't talk much, he really knows how to communicate you know what I mean? Anyway, I have a boyfriend, and I think I might be falling in love with him, but that's another story for a different day because you wanted to find a present for Seshat?”
Philotes looked at him with a hopeful expression, waiting for him to tell her was sort of thing Seshat would like. Because then she could help him. And oh, look, the coffee had already been delivered. When had that happened? Well that speedy barrista was getting a tip, definitely. She took a sip of her coffee, and returned her expectant gaze to the Egyptian.
