Thor sighed. Relationships were not exactly things he was best qualified to give advice about. Look how badly he'd messed up his own, and he still hadn't gone to see her yet. But Ninkasi was hurting, so he was going to do his best to help her. Even if he was starting to get uncomfortable with the topic. After all she'd done for him, it was the least he could do in return.
"Okay," he said, as he sat back down in the dining chair she'd provided him. "Here's the thing, Kasi. You're making an awful lot of assumptions 'bout what 'e would or wouldn't do, what 'e might or might not want, and I'm gonna bet 'e's prolly doing the same damn thing. Kinda hard not to, I know. You're used to the way things were, and that's what you're basing your decisions on. But things ain't the way they were anymore, now are they? That kinda changes things. Variables in an equation are called variables for a reason, and that's all a relationship is full of. Variables.
"You know my own experience with being in a couple ain't been... so great," Thor admitted. "But I did learn a couple a' things, in spite a' myself. 'Un, making assumptions is the fastest way to a fight. And two, if you're not both willing to make compromises, it ain't gonna work. It can't be just you, Kasi. 'E's gonna have to change some too, so you meet in the middle. Otherwise, it's unbalanced, and trying to keep things going when they're off center, that's exhausting. The 'un giving more starts resenting the 'un taking, and it turns into a lot of finger pointing and simmering anger that eventually explodes.
"I know you're scared. You got reason to be. But if you don't wanna stay feeling the way you are right now, or risk losing 'im over a misunderstanding, then you two gotta sit down and talk this out. Without hiding, or shying away from the hard stuff. You gotta figure it out together, if you wanna chase this, or if you're gonna let it go. Trying to do that by yourself is too hard on you, and kinda insulting to 'im. You both made the mess, you both gotta clean it up."
He waited a moment, not only to let her digest all he said, but to clear his own mind because talking about relationships, and how they could get messed up, was a fairly touchy subject for him. After a short, almost undetectable, breathing exercise, he asked, "Need another hug?"
