"Punched a kid, huh?" One hand came up to her cheek again, this time he used his thumb to wipe away some of her tears. "This is the same guy you've been telling me 'bout for years, right? The 'un you've stuck with for all this time? 'Kay. I gotta couple questions 'bout that then."
He held up one finger. "'Un, wasn't this right after you saw 'is dangly bits, and," he added a second finger, "two, 'e ever done anything like that before?"
Thor knew the answers to those questions. So did Ninkasi, she was just so wrapped up in her hurt and fear she wasn't seeing them. Maybe making her answer those questions would get her to see that at the time, the boy was probably just as screwed up as she was right now, and not making the best judgement calls. Hormones did stupid shit to the male brain. Thor could attest to that better than most.
If it had been almost a year since this started, and a good six months since they'd had their last conversation, it might be that Kratos had settled down enough to think things through at this point. Thor was almost positive that his assessment was right, that he was in love with Ninkasi. But if he was wrong, or even if he wasn't, could be that the kid had gotten control of those urges that had sprung up. How he handled that now could make things better or worse, depending, since Ninkasi hadn't gotten to that point herself. Maybe they could have a calmer conversation now, though. The trick would be taking the fear of loss out of the equation, because that was probably what was motivating both of them.
