Thor had several centuries of experience with people making the face that Ninkasi made when she answered the door: he was not who she was hoping would be there. In some cases, it was because people didn't really want to see him. Those were pretty easy to sort out, because even when they made the polite invitation to come in, there was enough of an undercurrent to make it known they'd rather he stay out. Some people thought he was too stupid to understand that and just barged in anyway, but the truth was Thor was just being contrary with those sorts. He'd rather people told him they didn't want him squishing their living room furniture, or eating their entire dinner, or whatever reason they'd prefer he not come to their house. Honesty would be nice.
But in other cases, that face was made not because they didn't want to see Thor, but because they'd had a sincere expectation of someone else. And maybe a hope to see that someone else a lot. Thor knew Ninkasi would never be so dishonest as to invite him in if he wasn't welcome, the girl really didn't shy away from walking right up to something and poking it with a stick. So she was hoping he was somebody else. Experience told him that stating that now, though, was likely to get protestations even from the most honest, because they never wanted a person to feel bad. So he shelved the question of who Kasi really wanted to see for the moment.
Instead, he gave her a huge hug that pretty much engulfed her small frame and kissed the top of her head. Only then did he answer her. "I didn't break anything. Not even a barstool. Didn't feel like replacing the furniture again."
It wasn't that he destroyed things in her bar often, but it had happened. And it had happened recently enough that Halloween had not faded from memory. So she was justified in her speculation and he certainly didn't hold it against her. But he was being honest: replacing the furniture this last time had been a pain in the ass because the style she used in her bar wasn't currently mass produced anymore. He'd had to special order it, which cost more, and then pay more on top of that to have it expedited. So he sort of had a vested interest in not breaking her shit for a while.
Stepping inside and heading for the living room, he added, "It went okay, I think. We talked. Kinda joked. 'E was more forgiving than I woulda been. This is a different color."
