Mostly because that would be asking a favor, and Hera didn't want to owe Love any future considerations. She was a goddess that it was unwise to irritate, and Hera didn't want to make promises without knowing what the repercussions might be. Which was why she was using the approach that she was. She was making it about something other than herself.
"I am only asking that you protect Hedylogos should something... happen," she clarified. "If you wish to be proactive, however, and keep those other parties from discovering what is happening, I would be grateful, of course."
Hera did not point out that keeping Zeus from finding out in the first place would be the best protection for Aphrodite's son. The woman was smart enough to already know that.
