Party is Over (tag: Bes)
The rumors had started a few days before. He had heard them from so many different sources that he would be hard pressed to not believe them. The question was what did he do about it? If anything at all. All he knew right at that moment was one thing.
Set had returned.
Upon hearing the news, Anubis had reverted to his jackal form and headed out into the desert. He often did that when his head was full and he needed time to think. There were few distractions out among the great pyramids, which it made it easier to think. And there was no one there to try to full him out of his brooding. He liked brooding. It was something he was very good at.
Unfortunately, it never solved anything other giving him his time alone. He knew he had to go talk to someone. Who was the question he needed to find the answer to. It couldn’t be Bast; he didn’t want to bother her with this. Horus was completely out of the question. His foster brother would hardly be unbiased in any opinion he offered. Not that Nubie could blame him for that.
He didn’t want to bother Isis, either. The woman that raised him was already firmly in the middle of all their drama. He was not about to make it worse. Thoth always gave wise advice. He did everything wise. Nubie often wondered if Thoth did the usual dumb thing that kids do when he was young. He certainly hoped so. He would hate to think that the old bird missed that kind of fun.
Anubis finally decided on the best person to go to. There was one that was always honest with him, but never too serious. Someone that almost always had his door open (the exception being when his wife was home). It was his temple that Nubie found himself at.
“Uncle Bes? You free?” Man, he really hoped Taweret wasn’t home. Or at least, that he wasn’t interrupting them.
