Protocol (tag: Persephone)
Nyx did not like being put in this sort of position. If it were not for the fact that he'd done what he'd don on behalf of their daughter, she would currently be quite put out with her husband. But the fact was Nyx would have done whatever necessary to protect Hybris, just as much as Erebos would. As much as he had. Though she would like to think that she'd manage to do so without the possibility of stepping on the wrong toes.
The youngsters could be so touchy sometimes. Just look at how Zeus had come stomping and snorting for his brother. If Ere hadn't been there to intervene, just how would that have played out? Nyx would hazard a guess of “not well.” The two brothers did have a habit of butting heads. So in that sense, it was probably good that her husband had been the one to speak with Zeus.
On the other hand, it was likely to ruffle some feathers. They were all so fussy about their titles and the respect they thought was their due simply for managing to come from Kronos' sperm. Really she'd thought they'd have mellowed a bit with time and learned that how people treated you had more to do with how you treated them rather than what they called you. Zeus had proven otherwise with his recent trip to the to the Underworld gates.
Hades and Persephone were better than some of the other young gods. Perhaps because they lived in a place that mad you prove your mettle, perhaps because they were of calmer temperaments to begin with. But Nyx liked to think that she and Erebos had provided some influence as well, if only by example of how they lived. And she hoped that the relatively smooth relationship they'd had thus far would carry over into the conversation she was forced to have today.
As she waited politely in the foyer of Hades' palace, Nyx attempted to marshal her thoughts, so that she could have everything she wanted to say in order. If she were calm and organized, this would likely go much easier. Because she had to tell the king and queen of the dead that a deal had been brokered without their knowledge or consent. It had been necessary; Nyx would not allow some upstarts or barbarians to punish her child. That was her duty as a parent, as was protecting that same child. But she really hated being put in this position. Nyx did not like to grovel.
