The little bats had all gathered roosting on the branches of her garden. They fidgeted on the branches and sometimes screeched as she walked by them. Persephone wasn't irritated by the noise, but found comfort in their presence. They were all very excited to be put to use. Usually only one was sent, but for this matter they would all be dispatched to serve her.
"This one to Egypt," she said as she held up an envelope with a card inside. The first bat dropped and swooped down. It's feet grabbed onto the letter and flew out toward it's destination. "To War of Sumer," she said and the next dropped following the other out. "You get Hel," she said with a smile to the next that came down to collect it's delivery. "This one is for Makaria," she held up a slightly larger envelope for her daughter.
"And this one," she held up one more. The last bat came to rest on her shoulder. "This one, we can deliver together." It nuzzled against her cheek and she closed her eyes enjoying the act of affection from the small creature.
The card she carried had much of the same as every other one, with a slight difference. While others were much more concise and polite, all were hand written. They were invitations, all to the same location at the same time. Hades had suggested Phobetor's castle in Transylvania. Dinner would being promptly at sunset. They would be greeted at the door by...Igor.
