There was so much she didn't understand, didn't know and he wasn't about to tell her. It would ruin the moment to explain that he didn't handle it at all for a very long time. That he denied any admission of it to himself because the first woman he had laid his heart at the feet of stomped on it and ground it into the dirt with her boot then kept him on a hook for many long years... just stringing him along with hope. It was cruel and painful and drove him to damn near madness. Loki had never wanted to go through that again.
Behind the smile gave her was the silent plea for her not to hurt him. He knew that if he lost her, whether by her choice or not, he wasn't sure he could be held responsible for his actions. There would be a rapid descent into madness that nothing would reverse. Nothing. He would go down and take everything with him and that realization was somewhat alarming. Maybe there was a nugget of actual prophecy in that old hag's prediction they Aesir clung to.
Rather than dwell on that, Loki brought his lips back to hers in quiet relief. It was over, he didn't have to fight himself on this anymore. As for the happy morning sex Sigyn had offered, it wasn't necessary but he certainly wasn't going to turn it down. He was just glad to have that weight off his shoulders. When he pulled away the smile returned and he said, “I think you should invite Hel to come to see us. She would like that.” Loki paused a moment, then continued, “I would like that.” Bringing his families together was overdue.
Well, what remained of his families, that was.
He kissed her again and let his fingers knot themselves in her hair. Sigyn was amazing. She had this way of making him want to be better than he was at everything. She deserved his best.
