If she said nothing, Loki might end up hurt, or using that clever mind of his and getting into worse trouble. If she tried to interfere, it would not look innocent. Wife of Thor, intervening on behalf of the man she was accused of cheating with. Truth or not, it wasn't something she wished to flaunt.
She stood there long enough debating what to do that she realized she'd already waited to long to make a decision anymore. Worried, she watched while the two seemed to argue, Hermes attempting to interrupt from time to time. Until someone came forward who could do what Sif could not.
