Re: Loki, Hermes, Hermod, Sigyn and Open
About half way to her goal, having just left Isis and Thoth, it occurred to Sigyn that the reason that she'd seen Eris near her husband probably meant the little trollop had been kissing him. Oh, that was going to be addressed, the very next time Sigyn saw the Greek that was going to be addressed hard. First though, she needed to get to Loki because she hadn't seen him since he'd gone to find Hel. She was too used to his constant presence to enjoy these prolonged separations. It made her uncomfortable and edgy, and she missed him.
It wasn't until she was much closer that she saw who was standing with Loki. A god she didn't know, and god that she did. And the god she recognized seemed to be losing his temper. Which was very unusual for Hermod. He tended to be kind and sweet by nature, so something had to have riled him a great deal for him to-- had he just slapped Loki's hand a way? Hermod? Sigyn could only think that he was too upset about Bragi's kidnapping to be thinking straight, that had to be what had him so upset.
The other, unknown god with his back to her seemed to be trying to calm things down from the set of his shoulders and the way he moved his hands. But it didn't work because Sigyn could see Loki poking Hermod in the chest. Which was not going to go over well. People had a tendency to underestimate Hermod because he was generally quieter and seemed shy. Sigyn understood, though, that still waters ran deep and so it was with Hermod. It was not a good idea to rile him, what on earth was wrong with Loki? He generally didn't get into physical fights, and at the moment, he was almost asking for one.
As she slid around the tall, sandy-haired god, she heard the last of what Loki was saying and her heart dropped into her stomach. However they had gotten to this point in the conversation, Loki was speaking of the deaths of their children, and Sigyn knew, even if no one else did, how deeply her husband loved. For him to be speaking of them now, with Hermod... it could not be good. There was too much emotion here, too much built up and ready to explode. When Loki lost control, nothing good came of it. Nothing.
Sigyn deliberately put herself between Loki and Frigg's son, facing Hermod. He would not slap at Loki around her, he just wouldn't. Sigyn knew him well enough to know he wouldn't hurt a woman. And Loki couldn't poke at Hermod through her. For good measure, she took a step back, leaning her back against her husband's chest; the contact was soothing to her, so she hoped it would be for him as well, and it gave her leverage to push Loki away from Hermod if it came to that. The last thing they needed, any of them, was for this to become a conversation that turned into a brawl.
Her voice low and calm, Sigyn held Hermod's eyes as she reasoned, “This is not the place for this. Your father made a decree, Hermod, and for you to be seen arguing like this with Loki in public, it would look like you don't respect or honor your parents. I know you do. I know you don't want others to think you're ignoring Odin. So why don't we all calm down and we'll try to resolve things rationally. I am not sure why you two are arguing, but it needs to stop now, because we have a common goal. We all want to bring Bragi home. Let's do that first, alright? Can we agree to that? Please?”
