Re: Isis & Thoth -- Sigyn leaving
Sigyn wanted to spit and rinse her mouth out. Not because the god hadn't been physically attractive. He certainly was. But he knew it, and that attitude combined with his behavior made him less appealing than a slug. Which immediately reminded her of her first meeting with Bragi, and his slug-kissing story; the rude god wasn't important, finding Bragi was. Besides, she could always find mouthwash later.
Isis promised to help spread the word about Idun's missing husband, and Sigyn assumed she was taking the least-said-soonest-mended approach to being abruptly kissed. Thoth, too, it seemed understood how to put things in perspective as well, because even as she fumed inwardly about the incredibly audacious liberties that had just been taken with her person, the wise god was promising to do what he could. As much as he could, in any case, within the scope of “politics.”
Ah. Politics. Well. That explained why they were not being as helpful as Sigyn had expected them to be. They were treading lightly because it might interfere with the workings of another pantheon. She could understand that, she supposed, but she was incredibly disappointed. She'd hoped that having a friend as powerful and well-connected as Isis would be a great boon to the search process, but that was not to be. And it was probably unfair to ask that of the Egyptian; she had her own concerns to worry about, far more important than the fears of one wayward Norse goddess could counterbalance. Sigyn tried to take it in stride, but it was a rather heavy blow to her hopes.
However, they were going to spread the word, and Sigyn knew that Isis would let her know if she did hear anything. And Thoth had given some good insights on the possible attacker. What was it he had said? Someone erratic and impulsive and perhaps reckless. That narrowed it down a bit, to people like...
Sigyn's head turned to look for the small, darting figure that had all but plastered herself on Thoth moments before. Eris was all three of those things. Where had she gone? Her eyes still searching the crowd, Sigyn said, “Thank you both, I do appreciate all that you can do for Bragi. But I think you're right, Isis, I need to ask around. If you'll both excuse me, I think this party is a good opportunity to do just that.”
Was that Eris? Yes! There she was, darting away from a cluster of gods that...
Loki.
Without realizing it, a quiet sigh escaped her lips and her eyes softened. She glanced back at the Egyptians long enough to say, “I hope we'll speak again soon, and we'll all have good news. Good evening.” And then she was hurrying across the sand to get to her husband.
