Re: Iris, Hypnos and open
“I would have tried a kiss first,” he explained, keeping his features totally benign. “But I thought that might get me slapped and then a pinch would simply be rude. Better to attempt to attain the bigger prize first, I thought. After all, how many men have been able to goose you and walk away with their limbs intact? You are a scary, scary thing when you're being all bright and shiny.”
Truthfully, for as long as he'd known her, Hypnos never seen Iris anything more fearsome than stern, and for most the golden brightness of her wings was probably a welcome sight. Personally he preferred the tamped down version he was certain she did on his behalf. But it was rather fun to pretend that she was someone to be handled with kid-gloves-- specifically because she was generally of a pleasant disposition. He himself was obviously of a silly disposition this evening. Why not run with that?
“Forty-seven, you say,” Hyp mused ponderously. “I am certainly not interested in more than a pinch. No offense, dear rainbow, but perhaps a few extra could be considered a tip. And possibly put to good use. Perhaps down the pants of a wayward husband who is tardy with the drinks. Not that I'm suggesting that, mind you,” he hastened to assure. “It was, of course, merely an example.”
He refrained from winking, but only just barely. “But if you'll excuse me, I must begin my quest for the little buggers. Forty-seven is a hefty number to attain and I will most assuredly be attempting to get more. Not because I wish for more than a pinch, I assure you.” He could not help but grin at her then, and rather cheekily at that. “It is just that I cannot think of a woman more deserving of crabs.”
With that, Hypnos beat a hasty retreat before she could retort or throw something at him. Well, hasty for him in any case; in this instance, it was something that looked like a quick stroll as he made his way towards the beach.
