But A Walking Shadow ( tag - Idun ) He was in his kitchen, of all places; when he received Odin's message. The words 'injured but alive' rang through his head on a loop; even as he listened avidly to the entire message. Injured. Someone had hurt his brother.
Time felt like it stopped. A number of things happened all at once. His heart started pounding, his muscles tensed, heat felt like it was pouring off of him and all he wanted to do was destroy everything in sight. It was completely silent in his house, because all he could do was stand there; stunned. The food he was doing a terrible job of preparing for himself went unattended. His throat felt tight, just before a cry of rage and agony ripped through the silence; a wrenching and furious sound. He did destroy everything in sight then. The kitchen, the living room; the hallway. It didn't take long.
When he was done, and his home was in ruined disarray; his first thought was of who might be responsible. Odin's mention of Loki and Sigyn wanting to help was... hard for him to comprehend, he didn't believe it; but he also valued Odin's word and judgement enough to, for now, abide by his instruction. If Loki had been behind Bragi's kidnapping, Odin would have known. Thor felt certain of that. He'd done what his father asked of him, ever since he'd been summoned and told him of Loki's escape. He'd left him alone. As much as it killed him to do so; he had.
But, after that initial thought, Loki was the furthest thing from his mind. All of their history, everything; none of it mattered at the moment. They were trivial concerns in the wake of such devastating information.
Bragi was missing. His brother was missing. Someone had taken him. Someone would pay dearly for it; but right now, he needed to know; he needed to see her, to make sure...
Idun! Tell me where you are... are you safe?... Idun.... IDUN... ??
Thor sent the call out to her; his fist curled around Mjolnir as he stood and waited; readying himself for her response. She was the first person he thought of, and she was his sole priority then. If something had happened to Bragi; he had to find her. It wasn't a question. Odin did not mention that she was in danger; but Thor would arrive ever ready for battle regardless.
But she didn't respond. Moments ticked by. Nothing. Why wasn't she responding? She never did that. Not once, in all the centuries; did she not say something back when he called out to her. Thor wasn't going to wait.
He arrived at their hall as quickly as possible; flinging the door wide and searching each and every room; weapon drawn, frantic, furious. He called out to her, but still; heard nothing. There was a chance she was at different location. With friends, with family. But still, he thought to check here first. It was the place that came to mind when he thought of her; her orchard. Her home.
When he reached the doorway of the study, he stopped abruptly; feet coming to a halt as he caught sight of her form, curled onto her side, lying on the floor.
"IDUN!"
He was at her side in moments, pulling her gently to face him, to look at him, his eyes filled with frantic dread. Her body was so lifeless, that for an instant he forgot everything else; petrified with the fear that she was lost to him too. When he saw that she wasn't, that should have been a relief. But for the look in her eyes. What he saw reflected in them, nearly sapped all the strength from his body. Her lively green eyes, always so bright and animated. They were clouded over, bleak and empty.
He didn't have words just then. He framed her face with his hands; looking at her with pained concern.
Why was no one here with her? Did she not have a number of loyal and devoted friends, in addition to their family? Why had she not called upon them now; why was she here alone...?
It didn't matter, ultimately. She was not alone now. She would not be alone, ever.
He cradled her slight form against his chest then, arms enfolding her in a secure embrace. "It's alright now, Idun.... You're alright." His tone was strong and reassuring. She was alright. At the very least, he had not lost her. She was here, and she was alright. She was far from well, but she was here; and everything would not fall apart because of that small fact. He could hold her together, keep each piece from fracturing even more. It's what Bragi would want. But it wasn't just the deeply rooted loyalty to Bragi that drove his actions, Thor loved Idun as fiercely as he did his own brother. She was so much a part of Bragi it would have been impossible for that love to not encompass her as well. She was family. And there had been a time where she had held him together once; long ago.
He pulled back after a moment, just enough to look at her. "He's alive. I'll find him. I'll bring him back to you. I swear it, Idun." He searched her gaze, his tone resolute. "I swear it." He didn't know how long it might take, or where he'd even begin to look. But he would get his brother back; of that he was certain.
"What do you need?" She had only to speak a request, and he would see to it that it was done.
