A Mother's Love (Eris)
Hybris was having a fine day. The sun was shining, birds were singing, although that part was actually kind of annoying. Seagulls really didn't make very attractive noises. The repetitive cawing was just horrific now that she thought about it. That's when she slipped the buds of her ipod into her ears to drown that out. The sun was still good though, warming her skin, as was the cool drink in her hand. The tall strawberry daiquiri was so tasty. She could swear she'd never had one better. Naturally, her beauty had spurned the bartender to do a better job.
The beach was the perfect place to spend the summer and that's why she laid out on a towel, half beneath an umbrella relaxing. All the partying of the night before had been a bit much, but it was go big or go home with her. She'd woken up on the beach actually. All her mortal friends had gone back inside and she'd just enjoyed the feel of the grain beneath her. Then she rolled over onto the towel. There were no hard feelings about being left behind. Breaking someone's nose when they try to rouse you had that effect on people.
She was half tempted to break someone else's nose the moment she started to hear the yelling. It was a few yards down, the mother and her child. She picked up a seashell and threw it at the woman. "SHUT HIM THE HELL UP."
A perfect mark as always, she caught the mother on the side of the head. Really. Mortals needed classes on this sort of thing. True they had completely inferior children, but they could be taught to be better. Her child didn't need any training because he was perfect. It was almost enough to make her pity the woman who held her head, quickly gathered up her things (and son) and moved away.
Eris, she called, the name coiling around the other goddess. Be a dear and bring me more drinks?
