No Library Card Needed (tag: Thoth)
There was no knowing if he would ever actually see Loki again. Bes liked to think that the guy would take him up on his offer. Sure he'd been a little flip about it, but the dude was bound to be more than a bit lost in this modern world. Bes had no idea how long he'd actually been in the cave, but the Northman had said "ages and ages". That sounded like a damned long time.
Nope, he'd see him again. He just had a hunch about it.
But before he saw him again, Bes wanted some sort of idea what he was getting into. Not from a standpoint of worrying about what kind of guy Loki was- Bes never doubted his own instincts in such things. It was more a matter of knowing more about him so he knew what things to avoid talking about.
And why Loki wished he'd known him ages ago.
It was that more than anything that had Bes curious. And what he could have done that was so bad that someone thought tying him to a rock for ages was a good idea. Bes knew some strange characters, but he didn't know anyone who'd do something so cruel. Except maybe Nergal. That one...well, Bes never wanted to really get on his bad side. Yet he didn't even think the Sumerian would do something like that. Shoot you for looking at him wrong, maybe, but tie someone up and leave them to rot? He didn't know anyone like that. Nor did he want to.
There was only one place Bes would go if he needed information. Thoth was practically a walking encyclopedia, and what he didn't know he would have access to. Bes didn't know anybody liked books as much as his old friend.
After entering his London home, Bes followed the servant to Thoth's study. As if he needed directions, or even to be told where Thoth was at. Sometimes he wondered if the guy every even went out to a movie now and then.
"Hey, you old stork," he said by way of greeting as he entered. "How's things?"
