"I came here for… something." Hypnos frowned, mildly irritated that the impetus for his visit to the mall was continuing to elude him. It was there, on the tip of his brain, which was very similar to being on the tip of one's tongue, except it involved thoughts instead of speech. Either way, it was just barely out of his reach, and thus irksome.
With a sigh he sat up, loathe to give up his prone position despite the lack of comfort in the mattress. Up always felt like an unnatural direction to Hyp. But it wasn't as though they were going to spend the rest of the day lying on the defective mattress in any case. There were other salespeople in the store. There was a high probability that they would continue to try to sell the glorified airbed at the very least. Or worse, attempt to engage his twin in conversation; and really, there was only so much room on the mattress for additional salespeople that he would be forced to induce into sleep to protect his brother's sensitivities.
No. There was nothing for it. He was going to have to stand up. Hypnos did so with what he felt were the appropriate grimaces and inarticulate noises of protest. Just because he was up was no excuse for pretending he liked being in that particular state. Finally, he gave Than a long look and queried, "Did you check the directory? Mortals like things to come with instructions, malls are no exception. I'm sure we can find your pretzels that way."
It was only then that he noticed his twin had already made a purchase. "What's that? A present?" There was a glimmer in his eyes that in anyone else might have been labeled as excitement. Hypnos adored presents.
