Strange Brew (tag: Nergal)
With a best friend that was the goddess of beer, and such an affinity for beer himself, sometimes Kratos wondered if they'd run out of flavors to try. And then mortals would go and do something strange. Like create Mamma Mia Pizza Beer. Seriously. Pizza beer. Who thought of that?
For years he'd tried to find the best beers to put on the table with Ninkasi came to visit. He'd spend months finding the most amazing Belgian Tripel to tickle her taste buds. But then one day he realized, nothing he could offer her would be better than what she could make herself. So he started hunting down down the weird, the obscure, the odd, and the bad. It was always entertaining to see her take that first sip... and then fix it.
He'd just located a distributor of his latest needed acquisition: Shenandoah Brewery's Chocolate Donut Beer. He had high hopes for her reaction to this one, because he'd seen reviews ranging from great, because it smelled and tasted exactly like a chocolate donut, to abysmal, because it smelled and tasted like a chocolate donut. Hell, he was sort of looking forward to trying it himself.
Unfortunately, the beer distributor was not in the best part of town. Not exactly a problem for a guy his size, with his skills, and certainly not for a god. But others were not as blessed, and as Kray approached the warehouse, he could see a number of young men gathered around one. The way they were standing immediately had the hair on the back of his neck standing up. They were all dressed in a way to make themselves look “tough,” including the kid in the middle. He was just smaller than the rest of them. And standing defensively. He knew what was coming.
Except it wasn't going to happen today. Kratos wasn't going to let it. The kid being bullied didn't know it just yet, but he was about to be saved by divine intervention. There was purpose to his step as he headed for the group. Little angered Kray, but of the short list that did, bullies were at the top of the list. The god who was usually laid back and fair was already seeing red.
