Horse-Trading (tag: Hebe)
Hermod had finished getting dressed and was looking at himself in the mirror. He straightened his tie and smoothed down his hair. He had someone coming to look at his horses today and wanted to look his best. The ranch manager had told him the daughter of some rich, important man had been looking for a pony and had heard about them from somewhere. He hoped that if she found a pony she liked then maybe he could convince her to donate to his miniature horse helpers. He always welcomed any help he could get with the assistance animals.
He folded his suit jacket carefully and slipped on his leather jacket before walking outside. His house was a long way from the office where he was to meet the new client. He could just run there, but most of his staff were mortals and would not understand his speed. It was easier to just fire up the Triumph and ride his motorcycle around the ranch. Since he loved his bike almost as much as running, he did not mind at all. He strapped the suit jacket to the back of the bike and headed to the office.
He had instructed the ranch manager to bring out a few of the breeds most popular with young women and girls. He still needed to talk to the girl to find out if she wanted a true pony or if that was her general term for a horse. Over the years he had found that not many people know the difference.
He pulled up to the back door of the office and parked the Triumph. He took the suit jacket and slipped in the back door, removing his leather jacket as he went. He gave a nod to the office manager, Helga, and went to the main business lobby. He had beaten the client, which was good. Hermod always felt it was better for him to wait for the client than the other way around.
Smoothing his hair one last time, Hermod stood by the door and waited. It was only a few minutes before he was opening that door for the potential buyer. “Welcome to the BH Ranch. I hope you didn’t have any trouble finding the place.”
