“Oh. Hey, Doc.” Philotes blinked in surprise. Twice. She had not expected any but Oizys to open the door and she’d certainly not expected to see Asklepios. They had a rather long history, she and the healer, so it wasn’t that she was uncomfortable in his presence. Far from it. Lottie quite liked Asklepios, but he wasn’t who she’d come here to see, and it caused her to hesitate. His words, too, threw her off balance. “Your brother is…”
Her eyes went past the familiar face to one she’d only seen rarely. It was a little odd for Friendship to know someone so important to one of her dearest siblings in only a professional manner, rather than a personal one. The threads of affection swirled like smoke in the air, and Lottie could pick out several hovering near Philammon that she could recognize as easily as she could breathe. Oizys. Artemis. Her mother. Philotes blinked again.
“Philammon,” she greeted, her confusion obvious in her face and her voice. “A drink? No… I had thought… Oizys said that you were… I was looking for Oi. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to intrude.”
Her glance took in his stance, the white knuckles clutching the chair, and she shifted uncomfortably. Looking back to Asklepios, she addressed him rather than the apparently agitated god, despite the fact that it was Philammon’s apartment. She trusted the healer. “Have you seen my sister? I thought Oizys was staying here, and after Nemesis let us out of her closet, I waited for her at my farm, but when she didn’t show up I thought I’d better come looking for her, because sometimes Oi gets a little paranoid about things, even when there’s nothing to be concerned about, but right now, that’s not the case because everything is all kinds of messed up, and I don’t even know what I’m going to do about any of it because I love my family but I can’t let them hurt my friends and I don’t want my friends to hurt my family and it’s just a muddle and if I’m this confused I can only imagine what’s going on with Oizys so I need to make sure that she’s alright, especially after Deimos locked us in, and maybe to make sure she’s not mad at me about the make-over even though she looks adorable now, but mostly, I just want to know she’s okay. So… that’s why I’m here.”
Her eyes again darted towards Philammon, and this time she couldn’t prevent the note of caution that crept into her tone. “Have I come at a bad time?”
