Hoping and Waiting (tag: Philotes)
Pothos wasn’t sure what he should be doing. Philotes was in Concept. He wasn’t sure why, but he knew it wasn’t anything good that sent her there. She would have told him if she had gone willingly. She would have warned him that he was going to be alone. He didn’t think he had fallen this far for her, but the way he felt right now made it obvious what his feelings for her were.
He was in love with her.
All he could do right now was wait for her to come back to him. He would do whatever he could to make sure everything was perfect for her when she did get back. Which meant that he was going to go to her farm and take care of things there. Whether Zed liked it or not. He would just have to be extra careful around Lottie’s cantankerous old goat.
He felt a little silly standing in the yard of the farm with his wings out. But that was the only thing that kept the goat from attacking him. Judging from the condition of the truck Zed kept ramming, it was a good thing to keep him happy. Lottie explained to him that his wings made Zed think he was a giant chicken. While that was a little embarrassing for the erote, it kept Zed from ramming his ass. The old goat really did like his chickens.
Poth spread out some chicken feed for Bee, Ell and Dee and thought about collecting their eggs. Then he remembered he didn’t know if these chickens even laid eggs. And he had no idea if there was a special way to collect eggs. He should have paid more attention when Lottie took care of the animals in the mornings. He usually stayed in bed and waited for her to come back. She almost always came back with breakfast and they definitely always had morning sex.
“Here you go, Zed. I got some Purina goat chow for you.” He thought the goat seemed a little slower as it ran up to him. His enthusiasm for ramming things seemed a bit diminished. Zed actually seemed depressed.
“I know, Zed. I miss her too.” He looked up to the sky, wondering if she could hear them. “Come on back, sweetness. We need you.”
