Tree Envy [Holly-Daze Challenge] (Open to Zephyrus)
Hermod needed to find a really great tree for his ranch. Both of his ranches, actually. The people that worked there celebrated Christmas and he wanted them to enjoy their holiday. His people were very good and he treated them more like family than employees. Every year, he found a big, perfect evergreen and put it up in the main hall. One for his place in Montana and the other for the ranch in Germany. He found the trees and his employees and their families decorated them and loaded them up with gifts. He got a lot of joy watching them, especially the children.
He had already found one tree and sent it on to its destination, but he was having trouble finding a second one that met with his standards. He couldn’t give up until he found just the right one. He wasn’t going to let his people down this year.
Besides, he had all sorts of fun running all over the world while on his search.
The Norse Messenger scanned the next tree line through a pair of high-powered binoculars. He loved running through the forest looking for trees, but he was running out of time. He was lying on a snow bank, but hardly noticed the cold. The temperature here was nothing compared to Asgard. He was often amused at the way mortals reacted to cold weather. They acted like cold and snow were something new every season. It was interesting the way some of them behaved.
But he was here to find his tree, not analyze mortal behavior. He continued scanning the trees, when finally he found the one he was looking for. It was the perfect height and it looked full and beautiful from where he was. Hermod stood up and brushed the snow from his jacket and pants. He was going to get his tree and nothing was going to stop him now.
He ran towards the tree, excited at the thought of cutting it down.
