Hi! I'm Karen. It's really nice to meet you! I play Will here, who is owned by Nicholas Edding (I should link to him but I don't remember how... I'm new to this platform, so I keep making Ashley help me and she's not online! booo.) I actually have a bit of a plot idea for Will and Duncan, if you're interested. Will's previous owner was pretty horrific, he ran a really seedy brothel and whored out his helots, and basically the whole thing was rife with abuse and neglect. Like, for one thing, Will wasn't allowed to speak, ever. (Will is deaf, but he can read lips and was actually quite good at speaking, but now he will barely do it at all.) Anyway, Will and all the helots were seized by the government and sold when their owner was arrested, but Will never really was told what had happened, so he has no idea why his owner was arrested.
So I was thinking, maybe, Duncan becomes involved in the case (for or against Will's former owner, you can decide) and has to track Will down as a witness/evidence to try to prove or disprove Will's owner's guilt. I don't think anyone's gone into great detail about the laws concerning helots, but I imagine that there would at least be some kind of abuse law, similar to the real world laws on animal abuse if nothing else.
I'm also bringing in two new characters in short order, if you'd like to plot with either of them. Brandon Gibson is joining first, he's an acquiescent college student who recently left an abusive relationship and is trying to put his life back together. TBH he could use someone with a firm hand in his life sometimes, because he's not used to being on his own. He also has some deep-seated issues with sex as a result of his ex but it would actually be really interesting to have him get into a more sexual relationship with someone and see how everything manifests. He and Duncan could be really interesting together.
The other character I will be bringing in in the next week or so is Mateo Vargas, second oldest of the Vargas brothers. He's second in command of the Vargas crime empire. He's a pretty straightforward guy, more moderate that either of his brothers but still just as passionate about his family.
