"Hmmm." Florean gave the question about whether or not he would float off the broom some serious thought. "I think that, so long as the broom were moving, the force of rectilinear acceleration would keep me on, though it's really hard to say without some documented empirical evidence on how exactly fictitious forces affect a person of my size and weight who has been stung by billywigs." The Ravenclaw in him was feeling excitedly fascinated by the prospect of trying out some field experiments in order to acquire some of that empirical data. In his eagerness, he had temporarily forgotten his aversion to actually riding on brooms. The other end of the rope continued to rest in his hand, also forgotten for the moment. "I would need your help, though. To make sure I don't float away by accident. Would you be willing?" He shot a wide-eyed, pleading look down below at Regulus. But then he remembered something. "Oh, wait. There's dragons outside. I don't want to get eaten. And I especially don't want you to get eaten. And I can't do the experiment without you, because I'd fly away. Guess we have to scratch that, then." He pouted, disappointed. "Boo."
At this point, he finally noticed the rope again. He pulled it until it was taut and gave it a few decent tugs, to gauge the sturdiness of the bed's weight. It barely even budged. It was a solid wood four poster, after all, and Florean wasn't much of a force unto himself on the best of days. "I think it'll be fine," he told Regulus.
Bending over, his knees tucked up toward his face, Florean reached down to try and tie the other end of the rope around his left ankle, half-noticing that he'd drifted upside down. Eventually, he got a fairly loose slip-knot tied and carefully pulled on the remaining end of the rope. He found himself a few feet closer to the floor and Regulus. For some reason, he found the yanking sensation of pulling himself down to be terribly amusing. Giggling the entire time, he levered himself down until he was only a couple of feet off the floor. He grinned at Regulus and waved again. "Hi."
