McGonagall; The Devil and Lily Evans (and Gideon, and James).

Hey you lovely lot,

So I have a strong mind to take on our Transfigurations Professor. She's just too badass to skip on. But I'm running into a strange mental block...

... In the film, she is awesomely cast by Maggie Smith. Only Maggie Smiths well into her seventies now and doesn't exactly fit the role. Even in the earliest Potter films, she was in her sixties. McGonagall at this age is supposed to be around 51 years old.

So I'm kind of fishing for some ideas. I REALLY like Maggie, but if you've ever seen pics of her in her forties and fifties, he's downright glamorous. So she really doesn't fit the role of our stern, no nonsense McGonagall.

What are some people's opinions on this? Nevermind it, and go for Maggie, or use another PB? I have been considering a couple of possibilities: Emma Thompson and Mary McDonnell, but neither seems quite right. I even looked at Kate Mulgrew (and kind of winced at the cross-genre) :-/ Any suggestions?

Secondly, I kind of want to do some potential plotting (or even just confirming or denying) of a plot surrounding James Potter, Lily Evans, Gideon Prewett and Travers here. See, Evan challenged Travers into doing something horrible to Lily.

If all parties are disinterested (or the central ones are), then we should just put it to bed and it can be done. Ayden can work his way into being noticed by the Death-eaters by other means.

If people are game to torment their characters with some angst, then I have been brainstorming some. Its below the cut.
