Alastor stood outside the door of Dumbledore's office, awaiting the first of the students to arrive. He was glad Albus had asked for his reassignment to Hogwarts for this very reason. These children needed someone with some experience to look after them, to train them. Albus was the best living wizard in Britain, probably the world, but his pure idealism could be a problem. Alastor wasn't quite to the point of losing every shred of optimism he had, but he'd seen enough in his life - in just the past few weeks - to be realistic.
So he stood beside the door, not trying to look like anything but what he was: a guard.
