Narcissa had spent the past handful of days working on a welcoming party for her oldest sister. Though she would have enjoyed a much larger time span to arrange a soiree in someone’s honor, she wouldn’t have made the decision to have this specific gathering had Lucius not brought the subject up. She wanted to show him that she could live up to the expectations the ring on her finger gave.
With agreeing to playing host, Narcissa did have the obligation of appeasing Bellatrix as well. Not to say, securing a new dress for her sister as well as choosing one for herself. The first two weren’t exactly tasks Narcissa wanted but she could manage. She especially didn’t want to see her sister’s smug face either, knowing the emotion could be in part to her being a murderer. Oh right, she wasn’t supposed to worry herself about those matters.
The House Elves had done a decent job with the finger foods (one couldn’t expect too much, this was Hogwarts) and Cassandra had been put in charge of beverages knowing she was better suited for the task than she. Though the location had been a fairly public gather, Narcissa wasn’t looking to exclude those other Slytherins not invited, she merely wished to have those most important there first. With the Common Room immaculate, the last twenty minutes needed to dwindle down before all would arrive.
