A pained expression filled Remus’s face as first Sirius exploded and stormed off and then Peter spoke once more to reprimand. Yet, as horrible as he felt for being a part of why this was happening, he couldn’t help but think that this was exactly why they’d waited. The two other boys believed that they were in the wrong for not telling them, but were coming at it from selfish reasons rather than considering the truth to why they’d not been asked. Besides, what did it matter when they’d been asked as long as they could be a part of the army now?
“It isn’t a matter of us trusting you,” he said, sighing a bit. “We know you’re both loyal. However, this goes beyond just James and me.” He’d been fairly certain that this would happen and imagined James felt the same way. Peter and Sirius had come into this meeting already agitated, so it wasn’t very likely that the atmosphere would shift any.
He shook his head, facing the window again as the awkward and unsettling tension overwhelmed him a bit. “I rather think it won’t matter what James and I say at this point,” he commented, pushing his hair back from his face before falling silent.
