Despite the impromptu nature of the meeting, James was composed with the knowledge he was about to divulge. It was, to say in the least, confidential to life or death degree. And, although he knew he could trust his friends to keep it a secret, it still sent his stomach churning at the thought of it leaking into the public. This was never some simplistic club that he and Lily had developed - this was to be an army of ready and willing soldiers, opting to fight at a moment's notice against one of the strongest wizards known. Frankly, he did not feel comfortable asking anyone to put their lives on the line. Especially not two of his best friends; losing them was an unbearable thought.
"A lot is going on," James mumbled with a look of regrettable secrecy. "And there is a lot to explain, but you two have decide if you actually want to know. I mean, it's a pretty heavy weight to carry, and, as your friend, I don't want you to take all of this information and let it overwhelm you." He squinted an eye shut in thought, shook his head, and then said, "Alright, I'm being pretty cryptic. Simply put, do you want to know something that will change your life for the worst, or not?"
