Sirius wasn't the type of person to publicly display emotion. Hell, he barely even showed it privately. Unless it had to do with happiness or anger, Sirius was a pretty reserved guy. When he'd read the Prophet this morning, he'd felt sick to his stomach. It wasn't something he'd talk about with his friends, but it had still happened. All those people? He was glad for the break from his family - he knew his mum would be going on and on about how they deserved it, how muggles shouldn't exist. His father wouldn't have been directly involved, but he would support it.
One thing Sirius didn't understand was everyone's reactions. They didn't know who did this? What kind of person couldn't feel remorse? It worried Sirius that he was 90% sure he did know. Didn't other students know about him? Was it just because Blacks supported his cause that Sirius knew? His name had never been publicly written, but Sirius had always seen the undertones in the newspapers, in Dumbledore's speeches - was it just him? Sirius figured he'd have to ask Regulus, or even Andromeda.
After dinner, Sirius had returned to his dorm. The castle was especially dreary today, and Sirius had almost all he could take. To start off the evening, Sirius took a shot of firewhiskey. He didn't often enjoy shots, but as the warmth from the alcohol came over Sirius, he felt at ease. Rummaging through his trunk, Sirius found a bottle of rum. He'd have to mix something Lily couldn't taste the alcohol in. It didn't take the boy very long, and he filled two goblets before going to the common room.
