That gave Lily pause, hitting too close to the elephant in the room for comfort. Not that she was one to ignore the elephant, but...oh, she just wanted a cheerful afternoon bantering with an old friend without it turning complicated, without having to face all the hurt and awkwardness between the two of them. Everything had gotten so rife, lately- the attacks, the secret resistance, James, Eli, everything. Was one hour without having to deal with any of the bad things that had happened since OWLs too much to ask, really?
"No. You can't be trying to make amends," she said after a moment, in a quelling tone of voice. "And you certainly can't be trying to make amends with flattery, because you know that would only make me angry." If it had been anybody else, she would have asked very pointedly what the term was for a person who found mudbloods attractive, but it was Sev, and she didn't. She let it go.
