WHO: Tanner Higgs, Mary MacDonald, Alice Potter and Gryffindors.
WHAT: Tanner is attempting to get to Mary because she doesn't believe him.
WHERE: Gryffindor Commons.
WHEN: Just after Mary's journal, Sunday.
WHY: Because! Mary doesn't believe him!
RATING: PG-17 for Mary's mouth. All those 'fecks'.
Had Mary answered truthfully, he would have left her alone. He knew what kind of moods she was usually in and when she was evasive, it typically meant that he should give in and let her be. But after the recent attack, he had a feeling that she wasn't going to believe him no matter if Dumbledore himself told her! She wanted assured that nothing was amiss, but she equally wanted to know that there were crazies after her, ones that wanted to hurt her and drive her crazy. It drove him crazy because honestly! Why would anyone want to bother her? What did Mary MacDonald offer to the world that caused such disillusion about the things and people around her?
Had he known that Lucius Malfoy was planting falsehoods into her mind and making him look like a liar, Tanner would've gone after him. But he didn't. He was unsuspecting and unknowing, which was why he had trodden the entire way from Slytherin to Gryffindor, quite the hike from the basement to the towers, something that caused great strain in his legs after awhile. But when he finally got to Gryffindor, he knew it was worth it. Facing the Fat Lady, he offered a kind smile and the password he knew, which was obviously incorrect. Damn. The password had changed since he'd last been up here!
"You," he pointed to a younger student, a Gryffindor female, one he knew from Charms in passing. "I've left something inside, would you mind letting me in to get it?" And of course, she did. He watched her leave to her dorms, before he decided to do the same, setting his stuff on a table before he took the first few stairs. But before his foot could touch the forth, the entire staircase turned to a giant slide, and he was flung back to the floor with an 'Oof!' "Mary!" he called once, before gaining his balance again, trying the steps once more as they'd returned to their proper state.
