She felt terrible that she couldn't completely set him right, but at least she'd done a bit of a clean up on his wounds. He'd still feel them, but he looked much better than he had before. "You should still try some juice, James," she replied, a little worriedly. Maybe he'd swallowed blood. If he had, he could certainly get pretty sick. "You know, I could always say I pushed you down the stairs and you could visit Pomfrey," she added after a moment of quiet thought. "Honestly, I don't want you to suffer."
It was nice of Mel to want to help, but part of her knew he wouldn't take her up on it. If James was anything, he was honest and chivalrous, and even though she truly would have liked him to go up to Pomfrey, it was better to suggest such a thing to the wall behind them. "Eat as much as he'll give you then, and get some rest. Let me know if you're any worse tomorrow. Eddie can always give you a once-over." She paused, thinking again, letting him have a moment of doubt. "Though I should turn you in, I'd have no one to talk to if you were expelled. So no, I'm not telling it to a higher authority. Unless you do it again."
