Who: Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Black (And the Malfoys)
Where: Malfoy Manor, Wiltshire
When: December 26th, afternoon
What: By and large, I'd have thought Narcissa had already met the parents
Rating: polite yet awkward
She had been at Malfoy Manor for nearly three hours. In that time, his tension had eased tremendously. Lucius had been worried, a fact revealed through the tension in his clockwork gentility, though not in his face. He had very nearly spilt a glass of wine at the Flint family fete the night before. And why? Truth be told, she had already met his parents.
Truth be told, the Malfoys were a very different family in private. In society, they adopted a solid, thoroughly British front. Father cared for mother and son; son and father carried with with a jocular seriousness, like men ought. There was warmth, perhaps not enough emotion, but an entirely appropriate. In all honesty, hardly the only time Lucius could stand to be in the same room as his disapproving father was when he forced himself to at galas--entirely too omnipresent this time of year.
Narcissa was learning his secrets. He had shown quite a few more on the tour he gave her of the grounds. But that did not mean she was ready for Abraxas Malfoy--rightfully named after a demon, in his son's mind. Lucius would have been happy to show her the grounds for another several hours--they had not even visited his wing. But dinner called. That waning tension settled back in Lucius Malfoy's spine as he slipped his hand out of her own and held out an arm to formally escort her to dinner.
