You shouldn't be up
Who: Siobhan and AJ (with Kiera)
What: The morning after
When: September 15th, early morning
Where: O'Shea residence
Warning: None

Kiera had howled like the world had ended every time he'd put her down, so AJ had ended up sleeping on the recliner in the living room with her on his chest. So when she stirred and started fussing, he was the one who woke up first.

He wasn't sure what time it was, but there was morning sun coming through the front windows. Travis and Jackie were still curled up by Olly and Shiva's bedroom door in wolf form. AJ had stayed human, not sure he had another shift in him after the ones from earlier. He really, really envied the born wolves' ability to shift so naturally.

As quiet and still as it was, everybody was probably still asleep. That wouldn't last if Kiera kept fussing. Shushing her gently, he folded up the recliner and got up. There was only one bedroom downstairs, so her diapers and change of clothes were probably upstairs.

It didn't take him too long to get Kiera changed and into clean clothes. Carrying her as quietly downstairs as he could, AJ headed into the kitchen to find her something to eat. Most likely at least Jackie and Travis would wake up soon and be as starving as he was. Putting her in her high chair with some dry cereal and a sippy cup of milk, AJ started coffee and looking around for what people might want for breakfast

AJ shook his head. "It's not a problem," he assured Shiva. "I can't blame her for being a little fussy. Her ears probably still hurt a little. I don't mind. I'd rather be helping then back at the Den waiting for news again." That had been a harrowing night, where his control had sorely been tested. "Yeah, I kinda suspected that. All of you need to take it easy, especially since we don't really know what happened to you."

She couldn't really argue with him about that, so she didn't. She and Olly had needed the sleep, so she definitely appreciated AJ's help with the baby. "I'm feeling better," Siobhan explained to AJ as she began slipping bread into the toaster. "But I don't know if there are any side effects, you know? It's scary. Why only magic users? I really hate being in the dark and not having answers." She sighed softly and then looked over at AJ. "How are you doing, by the way?"

AJ smiled. "Glad to hear that," he told her as he started cracking eggs into a large bowl. He nodded. "Yeah, I'm a little worried about that. This is completely out of my league. Sorry. But Travis and I can stick around for awhile just to be here in case there's some side effects or something. Jack'll be stuck working for a couple of days probably." He would have been right there with her if he wasn't cursed now, but he was trying not to think about that. For all that he'd lost, he'd gained so much more. It was worth it. But there was part of him that felt like he should be out there doing his job. Even though it wasn't his job anymore.

"I'm okay," he assured her. "Part of me is always going to feel like I should be out there doing something. Especially when Jack's out there. But like I said, this is better than being stuck at the Den waiting for news." That had been a really, really rough night.

Siobhan waved her hand dismissively. "You don't have to stay very long. We'll be all right. I'm feeling a lot better, myself." And if Olly and Shea were still shaken up, Siobhan was convinced she could take care of them herself. There was no reason to inconvenience AJ and Travis.

"You are doing something, by the way. You came here to help." Siobhan paused when the toast sprang up and she carefully pulled the two pieces from the toaster to set them on a plate. "I think that probably means more to Jack than anything else."

"It's no problem," he assured her. "It isn't like I have anything better to do. And it's nice getting away from the Den. I haven't left since that Gathering thing." Which hadn't gone really well and neither of them probably wanted to talk about it.

He smiled at her words. "Yeah, well, we're family now," he reminded her. "Or will be as soon as Jack and I get married." The wolf part of him didn't need the formalities, but the human part did. He wanted to do it right this time. "Really, Siobhan, I don't mind. This is helping me as much as it's helping you guys. Really."
