She was surprised that he didn't utter those words. She'd been expecting him to since the moment she opened her mouth and started to explain why she'd decided to stay with the pack at the farmhouse.
"No," she told him. "There's more in the car. Still not much. I left the furniture. Wasn't worth bringing anyway," she sighed. "So just a bunch of boxes of clothes and books and things. I can get it," she told him, standing up and taking advantage of the fact that he was closer to her height now. She kissed his scruffy cheek and sighed. "I'll try more," she promised. "Even when it's hard."
